Land Acquisition

The burgeoning suburban population in northern Illinois puts a great demand on public services, including facilities to provide a quality education to school children. Since 1977, the attorneys at Whitt Law LLC have served a variety of school districts in the acquisition of land for the construction of those facilities.

Traditional land/cash contributions are insufficient to adequately provide for the capital needs of school districts experiencing significant residential growth and development.

We help school districts through the entire process of land acquisition-from identifying suitable properties to securing financing, often utilizing innovative, creative arrangements.

It is sometimes necessary to take private land for public use, through the power of eminent domain or condemnation . We have successfully obtained school sites through eminent domain proceedings in the Circuit Courts of Kane, Kendall, DuPage, Will and Grundy Counties. In every instance, the land was acquired in a timely manner so that the facilities could be constructed in time for the arrival of students.
