Whitt Law LLC has also been called upon to provide advice, counsel, and litigation services to local governments hosting Mobil Oil's refinery in Joliet, Illinois and Marathon Ashland Petroleum's refinery in Robinson, Illinois. Whether through litigation or negotiation, our goal is to seek, and we have been successful in securing, long-term solutions resulting in financial stability and reasonable tax rates for our clients for years to come.
Whitt Law LLC represents the Fair Assessment Information Resource Committee (FAIRCOM), which is a trust of local governments dedicated to the maintenance of fair and equitable assessments and taxation of electric generating stations throughout Illinois. In the Fall of 1997, the Illinois General Assembly enacted legislation providing for deregulation of the electric utility industry. Under Whitt Law LLC's leadership, FAIRCOM was successful in securing passage of Public Act 90-562, which assured a stable financial environment for local taxing bodies.
